Obituary for Esther Rabasco

Esther Rabasco
March 26, 1949 – March 19, 2023

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Esther Rabasco, age 73 on March 19, 2023.
Esther was born on March 26, 1949, in White Plains, NY to Louis Williams and Mary (Cassavecca) Williams. She married her teenage sweetheart, Salvatore Rabasco, November 2, 1968, at the age of 19. She and her husband were blessed with two beautiful daughters and four loving grandchildren.
It’s nearly impossible to capture the impact one had in this world in a few short sentences. This is just a short synopsis in the book of her life. All in all, Esther defined herself by the love for her grandchildren, her daughters, son-in-laws and undeniably her husband.
Esther worked for the White Plains Central School District for approximately 30 years as a Teacher’s Assistant. She loved being in the classroom with the children and adored the “Girls” she worked with. It took a special person to work with special needs children in the classroom, to play referee on the playground and to keep the kids safe on the busses. The years of service at WPSD doesn’t compare to the dedication she had doing what she love most…. being a grandmother; and she rocked it!
Being a grandmother was by far the biggest pleasure in her life. Grandma Esther was beyond thrilled when her first Grandson, Michael, was born in 1997. He was the absolute apple of her eye. In 2000, she was blessed with two additional grandchildren, Brandi and James, she was thrilled to have two more grandchildren to spoil. In 2003 her fourth grandchild, Billy arrived and completed our family. She went from cheering on Michael and James playing hockey, to supporting Brandi on the softball field to watching Billy race the cars he built. There were not many events she missed; she was there for all the milestones in their lives. Grandma Esther would ALWAYS proudly boast about her four grandchildren. A quick phone call or a simple text from anyone of her grandchildren, or her “adopted” grandkids, just made her day.
There are no words to explain how greatly she will be missed by all that knew and loved her. Esther touched so many lives, and she simply just made everything better; she truly was a saint. She was a fighter, the strength she had was just incredible. She was fiercely protective of her daughters and grandchildren; she was loyal through and through and if you knew her; you knew her family was everything. She loved the beach; from years spent renting cabins at the Jersey Shore to the beautiful Caribbean beaches of Aruba, she LOVED the sun and sand; not so much the ocean as she didn’t know how to swim, lol. She and Sal enjoyed hitting the ‘ole slots, whether it be in AC or Vegas, “Lady Luck” was happy at the casino! She also loved to be outside in her gardens, truly she made everything more beautiful.
Esther is survived by her loving husband and best friend of over 54 years, Salvatore Rabasco. Her two daughters, who she adored, JoAnne Carrier (Jimmy) and Michele Galligan (Bill). Her grandchildren simply filled her heart with pure happiness, Michael, Brandi, James (fiancé Fallon), and Billy; each of which all were special to her in their own way.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 26, 2023 from 1:00 P.M. – 5:00 P.M. at Balsamo-Cordovano Funeral Home, 15 Church Street, Carmel, NY 10512.
